On Thursday I went to see Rodrigo y Gabriela live at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London. It was the best thing I’ve ever seen. The only gig I’ve been to that came close was Stellastar* at the Kings College Student Union.

It was so good that we went back to see them again on Friday, which was no mean feat, driving from Long Melford after work.

These guys are my heros. I’m working on learning a couple of their pieces and it’s incredibly challenging but incredibly satisfying.

If you get the chance, *GO AND SEE THEM* !!! And you should definitely buy their album. The music is obviously great but the insert that somes with it gives you an insight into how they come up with their pieces, talks about their many travels and also about some of the conservation issues affecting Mexico.

Click here fo more about them and a nice little tutorial to introduce you to their style of playing: Rodrigo y Gabriela

Another nice video. Anyone who’s ever felt this way will appreciate this bit of guitar playing. And anyone who plays rock / blues guitar will also enjoy and relate to it: Blues

This is possibly the best thing I’ve ever seen. I think this guy is amazing. All bow down to Hannes Coetzee, a man from my own home country:
