Ever get down about your guitar playing and wonder what it’s all for? Feel like you’re not improving quickly enough?
Well take a leaf out the book belonging to some of these people. And remember that there is always reason to play your guitar. Sometimes we all hit a plateau in our learning curve. All you need is a little inspiration or to find a new song to learn. Inspiration comes from many places. Maybe you will find it here today, and maybe you won’t.

I’ve heard that this is a pretty poor movie. but I might watch it anyway, as the guitar is amazing. Steve Vai is brilliant. He was trained by the best - Joe Satriani, who also taught Kirk Hammet of Metalica.
Here is a snippet of the movie with some incredible guitar. The best is right at the end.
The technique used in the dual at the end is mostly sweep picking. Take a look at the instructional videos for a brief introduction to get you started.
As promised, here is the tab
Good luck!

A truly inspiring songwriting genius, he is quoted as having said: “Me not of the world, y’know. Me live in the world but I’m not of the world”.

I give you, Eddie Van Halen:
Van Halen are responsible for one of the happiest cheese party anthems of the 80’s. See it here
They are also named for their guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, one of the greatest virtuoso’s in guitar history. I bet Ziryab would have ben proud.
For a little taster of his ability and personality, see here.

Cat Stevens is now known as Yussef Islam. His latest album A Nother Cup is great and sounds a little like his older stuff. Critics would say that there are a few too many religious undertones to some of the tracks but I’m not getting involved in religious debate here. If you don’t have “Tea for the Tillerman” and “Teaser and the Firecat” in your collection, go and buy them now. They are full of wisdom and wonder. Here is a video of one of my favourite songs:
Moonshadow (Strange video and live versions)

One of my favourite bands. Have seen them several times in concert and will soon be posting the tabs for songs such as Monkey Wrench, Everlong and most of the songs from “The Colour and the Shape” as well as some songs from other albums including “Razor” from “In Your honour” disc 2.

These guys are hysterical. No, seriously. And they are actually talented musicians to go with it.
Have a look at this video of Tenacious D’s guide to becoming a true rock and roll master.
A word of warning: The film “Pick of Destiny” is awesome and suitable for older children and adults that are not easily offended. The Tenacious DVD Complete Masterworks however is absolutely hysterical if you enjoy even more risky comedy. Not for the faint hearted. Leave your morals by the door as you sit down to enjoy this one!
They are awesome.
